GILDA’S CLUB MISSION
We’re here because Gilda believed that everyone deserves outstanding, all-encompassing, and well-researched support for dealing with cancer. We strive to meet their changing needs with a variety of programs and services offered by a wonderful mix of professionals, partners, and communities.
ABOUT GILDA’S CLUB
Gilda’s Club was named after the late comedienne Gilda Radner of Saturday Night Live, wife of Gene Wilder.
Gilda visited a Wellness Community in Los Angeles while she was going through her own cancer treatment. During her time there, she found strength and comfort by connecting with others who were also experiencing cancer. Gilda dreamed that these supportive communities would be accessible to everyone affected by cancer, ensuring that no one would have to face their journey alone.
The impact of cancer is not only physical but of course deeply emotional. Gilda’s Toronto is a community of support where people facing the fear and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis. Whether personally or for a loved one, can find strength in others who share their experience.
The supportive and educational programs at Gilda’s Toronto are an essential component of a complete cancer care plan and also a complement to medical treatment. Those who seek support in this community are embraced as “Members”.
Since 2001, Gilda’s Toronto has improved the quality of life for more than 12,000 members. Members experiencing cancer-related stress to restore a sense of control, redefine hope, reduce stress and isolation during and after cancer treatment for improved quality of life. All programs are provided free of charge, so there is no financial barrier to accessing support in this community.
CS-1 Transportation Inc. is a proud supporter of Gilda’s Club Toronto!
