Case Study: An Automotive Industry
The Challenge:
A thriving automotive company approached CS-1 Transportation to assist with their time sensitive shipments delivering into a major OEM in South West, Ontario. The company was struggling to find enough drivers to pick up and deliver their cross border freight. They could not find enough cross border carriers to fulfill their daily runs. Pick up points varied across southern USA. In addition, the newly implemented ELD’s team drivers were sometimes required to ensure there would be no down time. Due to the large amount of pick ups, all deliveries were being run direct and costing the company a ton of money.
The Solution:
CS-1 Transportation was able to utilize their relationships with regional carriers domestically within the USA to bring freight into the Detroit, Michigan area to a partner’s cross dock on a daily basis. We recommended a daily milk run out of the cross dock with consolidated freight to deliver direct into the OEM, saving costs and maximizing the space on the truck. In addition, we created an inventory system with the cross dock to ensure all freight is accounted for before leaving. CS-1 Transportation now runs daily lanes, domestically within the USA into the cross dock in Michigan, with a regular milk run truck collecting all freight from Michigan to deliver into the OEM.
