January Donations – The Burlington Food Bank
Every month we randomly choose a department within the Company to select a charity for donation.
In January, our Customer Service Department choose The Burlington Food Bank.
The Burlington Food Bank is a non-profit organization in Burlington providing food and personal care items for low-income households in Halton Region. The Burlington food bank provides fresh produce, meat, non-perishables, dairy, baby products, pet food and seasonally available locally grown produce from community gardens and trees. Since COVID, the local need has increased 60% in 2020 and has continued to increase 20% per year since.
Donating money (over food) to the food bank allows the organization to use their buying power to stock up on most needed items based on community need.
Food banks often receive spoiled or expired food, resulting in increased disposal/waste cost and wasted volunteer hours sorting donations that should be thrown away. If you’re considering making a charitable donation to your local food bank, please consider making a financial donation directly.
